Additional Services

The following additional services are provided under the new NHS contract:

Cervical screening

This is provided by appointment with the practice nurses.

Contraceptive services

This is provided by appointment with your usual doctor or in the nurse-led family-planning clinic. IUCD (coil) care is also provided. (See Family Planning)

Vaccination and immunisations

Children: Your children will normally be called automatically for their routine vaccinations. We strongly advise that they have all the recommended vaccinations so that they are fully protected against diseases such as meningitis, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, polio and whooping cough. Vaccinations can be arranged at other times if your child has missed any injections. (See Child Health Surveillance & Childhood Immunisations)

Adults: We recommend you keep up to date with your tetanus and polio boosters. We also recommend that all adults over 65, or who suffer from asthma, lung disease, heart disease or diabetes, have a flu jab every autumn. Certain people may also be advised to have a pneumonia vaccination as well.

Child health surveillance

You will be invited for a 6-8 week baby check. This will include the post-natal check for mum.

Maternity services

All the doctors provide maternity medical services in association with the community midwife. (See Maternity Services)

Minor surgery procedures

Minor surgical procedures and joint injections can be carried out at the surgery. (See Minor Surgery)
